Our mission is to create safe spaces for both local and international intersectional social justice advocates while uniting various social justice causes through the lens of animal liberation. By doing so, we aim to position animal protection firmly on the political agenda as an integral part of the broader social justice movement.
The Human Animal Project...
… aims to address the root cause of oppression by encouraging a rejection of the structures and institutions that link the commodification and exploitation of animals, vulnerable human populations, and the environment. The HAP will work with individuals and communities through community outreach, collaboration with other grassroots organisations, wellness advocacy, humane education, and empowerment, with the ultimate goal of repositioning animals into the social justice advocacy space and ensuring a position on the political agenda.
Our approach will be consistent with South Africa’s constitutional values and principles, and cognisant of relevant indigenous conceptions of nature and conservation, acknowledging the value of these perspectives and providing a platform and safe space for them to be heard.
By creating a safe space for change makers; and through continuous dialogue and collaboration, the Human Animal Project is committed to changing the South African social justice landscape.
